Recently appointed Regional Executive Officer (REO), Dwight John says that he remains
focused on ensuring that there is holistic development in Region Ten.
John speaking to www.aroundtheregions.com expressed happiness at being entrusted with the
responsibilities of being the new REO. He replaced Orrin Gordon who was fired shortly after the
PPPC took office. John said that as the REO he sees his role as an important one. He stressed
that he intends to ensure that with Government’s support that development will be achieved
within the region.
He said that he has extended an invitation to work with all stakeholders, noting that irrespective
of one’s potica, social and or religious persuasion he intends to work along so that the residents
can benefit in enormous ways.
“As the REO I am determined to get things done in this region because the Government of
Guyana remains committed and dedicated to achieving holistic development in all the
administrative regions,” he said.
He confessed that thus far he has settled in significantly pointing out that already with several
meetings held with various programme heads, he is confident to resolving several issues within
the region. This, he stressed, is very important considering the fact that there continues to be
several issues affecting residents.
“I have settled in very well as my aim and purpose here is to get the work done and not only
done but to be done successfully.
He said that he has already visited several projects and despite a recent national holiday, the
Regional Tender Board met to review several tender documents. John said that this is pivotal
considering the importance of ensuring that contracts are awarded. This, he said is pivotally
important for regional development
Reassuring all that he has an open-door policy, the REO said that with various relationships
being forged with government ministries and agencies he foresees Region Ten being a hallmark
of national development
He said that he intends to achieve success, thus his aggressive and consistent approach in
addressing a number of critically important issues affecting the residents. “I am cognizant of my
role in helping to bring about major development. As such, together with the residents and
various stakeholders, we are going to achieve this,” he opined.
John, who confessed that he worked in Region Ten some years ago, said that he welcomes
challenges. He said that he foresees this new role as one that will further bring out his skills and
ability to lead. He however reassured all that his primary objective is to ensure that the residents
in the region would benefit significantly.
