The Regional Democratic Councils of Regions Four and Ten will be electing their Regional Chairman and Regional Vice Chairmen on Monday, September 28, 2020.
According to sources close to both regions, the long-waited expectations for the Regional Chairman and Regional Vice Chairmen will be conducted by the respective REOs. Region Four elections will be supervised by Ms Pauline Lucas and Region Ten’s acting REO Dollette Powers.
Region Four will have a new Regional Chairman as its current Regional Chairwoman was not on the list. However, for the post of Regional Vice-Chairman, there isn’t a clear front runner, it is expected to be a fierce contest among some between the APNU and AFC fractions.
Meanwhile, for Region Ten the clear front runner for the Regional Chairman’s position is Deron Adams. Adams is seen as a popular choice among many. “Deron is a vibrant, disciplined and respectable young man, who is politically matured and we the supporters of the party fully support him to be the next Regional Chairman,” a senior APNU official in Region Ten said.
Rennis Morian who served Region Ten as its Regional Chairman will not be returned on the Council, as his name wasn’t submitted by his party for the March 2, 2020 elections.
However, the Regional Vice Chairman Elroy Adolph is returning to the Council. He is one of the front runners for the Regional Vice Chairman’s position. He will receive fierce competition from at least three other councillors in Douglas Giddings representing APNU, while Mark Goring and Norris King representing the AFC. While many expect a tough contest for the Regional Vice Chairman post, many believe that based on the performance of Adolph he is tipped to edge the others out.
The elections for Region Four is slated for the Bladen Hall Multilateral School auditorium, while Region Ten will hold its own at Watooka House.
Both Regions were won by the APNU/AFC and already several persons whose name are on the list have begun internal campaigning to secure the needed votes for the coveted positions.
