RDC Region Four signs over 246 million in contracts

Regional Executive Officer (REO) Pauline Lucas

Regional Executive Officer of the Regional Democratic Council (RDC) Four, Pauline Lucas
signed several contracts totaling over 246 million dollars. The contract signing, which was done
in the RDC Boardroom, was attended by the Regional Chairman, Daniel Seeram, Regional Vice
Chairman Samuel Sandy, other regional officers and the contractors. The signing represents
some fifty-six contracts and forms part of the PPPC government commitment to ensure that there
is national development in every region.
This was evident as the REO echoed similar sentiments made by the government where she
stressed the government's commitment, dedication and determination in bringing about holistic
economic and social development, thus resulting in enhanced communities.
In congratulating the successful contractors REO Lucas urged them to execute their work at the
highest professional level, reminding them that they are being paid by taxpayers monies. As
such, they should be cognizant that no shabby and or poor standards of work will be tolerated
and or accepted. She confessed that while the region has in the past experienced delays in paying
contractors, she committed to not having this repeat itself. She declared that the region’s
engineers will be monitoring the projects, paying close attention to every project. “I expect the
best from you and please be cognizant that it’s not my money, it's not your money but it’s the
taxpayers monies that are paying you and the residents that will be benefiting from these works
demands the best,” she alluded.

Lucas noted further that contracts are being issued under the various programme heads, which
included education, health, and public works. She reminded contractors that the government
remains steadfast and committed to ensuring that the public benefits significantly.
The Region Four REO warned contractors that no changes can be made to any project without
first seeking and getting approval from the region. This, she warned, will not be tolerated stating
that in the past some contractors made changes after which they expected the region to pay for it.

“I have warned and warned and I hope that you, the contractors, are listening because if you
make changes without the written approval being given then you should know what to expect,”
she said.
