RDC employee assaults PM’s relative

A Regional Democratic Council (RDC) employee physically assaulted a relative of Prime
Minister, Brigadier (Ret’d) Mark Phillips after accusing him being a mole. The incident took
place Monday night at the RDC building in the bauxite-mining town of Linden.
According to a confidential source Elander Marks a.k.a. ‘Duke’ attacked Telson Bascom after
accusing the 19year-old Office Assistant of leaking information about alleged ongoing corrupt
practices by some employees attached to the Upper Demerara/Berbice (Region Ten) RDC.
The attacked took place after ‘Duke’ claimed Bascom was upset because he wasn’t benefitting,
the well-placed source recalled.
“There was a lot argument as ‘Duke’ was telling Telson that he has been tipped off that he is the
one who has been ratting out on employees and it is because he (Bascom) ain’t get a bread
(money gotten illegally in this case) but if that is case, he shouldn’t be afraid as there is enough
bread for everyone,” the source said.

During heated arguments Bascom told ‘Duke’ he can continue believing the error allegedly
divulged to www.aroundtheregions.com website because numerous Region Ten residents
publicly give information to media houses according to what the source said.
Bascom was leaving his workplace with ‘Duke’ in hot pursuit maintaining his accusations. When
challenged him to back up his claims, ‘Duke’ floored him.
‘Duke’ punched him in his face knocking him off his feet,” the source recalled.
They contacted their relative the PM who advised on the way forward.
Bascom got medical attention, reported the assault to the police and to Regional Executive
Officer (REO) Mr. Dwight John who promised an investigation.

Bascom’s mother, Marlyn was outraged by the REO’s sloth.
“Your employee is assaulted by another employee and instead of coming out to access the
situation you are telling him that you will address this in the morning. It’s like you don’t care if
he ended up in the hospital or dead.”
She debunked Duke’s accusations noting nonchalantly “just a simple walk around Linden
and you will know everything.”
