Several persons are demanding that National Industrial and Commercial Investments Limited (NICIL) immediately conducts a thorough investigation into one of their employees. The employee that they are demanding an investigation into has been dealing with members of the public in relation to several of the company’s lands.
Among several claims made by persons are that the official who has been with the company for many years have been deliberately frustrating several persons with regards to the purchase and or regularization of lands belonging to NICIL. This, they are claiming is what they would have sought to secure from the company land over a number of years. They stated that he has been acting grossly unprofessionally with several transactions.
Several persons further claim that they have been waiting for some five-plus years for the completion of their transactions, but are deliberately given the ‘royal run around’ by the officer who has been reportedly seeking ‘kickbacks’ and ‘cuts’. However, www.aroundtheregions.com learnt that numerous complaints were made to the former acting CEO Colvin Heath-London who promised to investigate. It was disclosed that after these ‘investigations’ evidence was found that the officer was operating contrary to company policy and his actions were dubbed as being illegal. However, multiple sources close to the former acting CEO admitted that he was prevented from taking action as a result of direct instructions that he received.
“This is real craziness as many persons had documented their concerns and issues and when we thought that finally, this matter was going to be dealt with, we learnt that senior officials including a government minister had deliberately stalled the impending actions of the acting CEO, thus resulting in the officer not being dealt with. “He (Heath-London) received instructions from higher up and I guess he just had to follow it,” an evidently frustrated woman said.
She noted that she has been for a number of years running back and forth to NICIL’s office as she seeks intervention and action. She described the named officer as being ‘grossly dishonest and running a racket’. “It is no secret that based on how he has been operating that it is tantamount to a ‘scheme’ that he is running and for those who are not prepared to pay the ‘extra’ that he requests they are denied the documents that they seek. I see that President Ali has been investigating a lot of different people and like many, I am hoping that he will investigate this officer as he must give account for his actions,” another demanded.
This media house was given names of at least 23 persons who claim that they have been waiting for some time now and has been on many occasions being ‘pushed around’ by the officer. they said that they too are demanding an investigation.
“This man needs to be removed from the system as we cannot continue like this. This is wrong to many of us, he doesn’t care and we are still angry in how the previous administration dealt with the matter,” a businessman said.
He continued, “like many others, I sincerely hope that this administration will operate differently”.
www.aroundtheregions.com learnt that several of the affected persons are from Linden, while there are also some who resides in the USA and the UK. “People are prepared to talk but they must open the investigation first because we do not want the typical style of operation, where they ask people to come forward and when they do, nothing is done about the situation. We are not prepared for that waste of time arrangements, as this man should and must account for the many questionable operations at NICIL,” a resident from Block 22 Linden demanded.
Hoping that with new management at NICIL that the matter will be dealt with, she said, “The President has promised to address several of these matters and with a new CEO at NICIL, we should be able to address this matter head-on, as in the previous administration it was evident that the man’s connection was very solid.”
Sources close to NICIL disclosed that the reason why the man may still be on the job is that he has information regarding several of NICIL’s properties and because of his vast experience. He is one of the very few persons who knows several of the properties that belong to NICIL that isn’t properly recorded and or documented.
