
Private Sector Commission official and the UK embassy officials
A delegation from the local Private Sector Commission (PSC) met new Resident High
Commissioner for the United Kingdom (UK) to Guyana, H.E Jane Caroline Miller, Officer of the
Order of the British Empire (OBE).
The PSC team was headed by its Chairman, Mr. Paul Cheong.
It said in a statement said the fruitful discussions with the UK envoy focused on several areas of
mutual interest between the two countries: matters pertaining to governance; electoral reform;
local content; joint ventures; ease of doing business; enhancement of technical skills; and the
overall enhancement of business activities.

Guyana was a former colony of Britain and gained her independence in 1966.
The UK High Commissioner expressed gratitude for the meeting and expressed hope for
continuous engagements of similar nature between the two countries.
At the talks were also representatives of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce (GCCI),
the Guyana Manufacturing and Services Association (GMSA), and other PSC executives.
