NORTHWELL HEALTH BOOSTED GEORGETOWN PUBLIC HOSPITAL CORPORATION
(GPHC) FIGHT AGAINST THE DEADLY CORONA VIRUS with a $3.6M (US$18,000
donation.
The donation comprised personal protective equipment (PPE); 12,000 KN-95 masks; 10,200
surgical masks; 3,200 isolation gowns; and 1800 face shields.
“We hope the supplies provided will help you in fighting the current surge of COVID-19 cases in
Guyana,” wrote Director of Global Health, Dr. Eric Cioe-Pena to GPHC’s Chairman, Dr. Madan
Rambaran.

Dr. Rambaran lauded the donation as a practical contribution to GPHC’s ongoing fight against
the contagious and deadly virus which has killed more than 4.2 million persons worldwide and
560 in Guyana.
Rambaran said the PPE for healthcare workers is an essential component of COVID-19
management, particularly for those who work in highly-exposed environments.
He noted that as an institution that prioritises the health of its staff, GPHC cannot
minimise the importance of this substantive donation from Northwell.
