REGIONAL EXECUTIVE OFFICERS (REOs) are networking unofficially to sharpen each
other’s expertise to help fast-track development programmes in their individual Administrative
areas.
“I work along with my REO colleagues as we are determined to do our best so that the people
can benefit from our leadership and stewardship. As a matter of fact, there are a few REOs who
would contact me regularly whenever they need advice and or information on how to proceed
with a matter as you know some are new and don’t have experience in public life as I am,” East
Berbice/Corentyne REO, Mr. Narindra Persaud, said in an exclusive with
www.aroundtheregions.com
In addition, access to each other’s’ regular statutory reports is also a boon for aiding rookie
REOs who need the constant guidance, the experienced Persaud explained.
“Our weekly reports are shared among all of us so we know what is taking place in every Region
as we are mandated to have this report prepared for the Minister,”
Due to his vast experience in several sectors, Persaud said he is able to tap into the diversity of
his skillset to help enhance others and make his workload easier.
“One of the things to get work done requires being a team player. When I came here, I met with
all Programme Heads and I told them that the REO cannot run the Region by her/himself. I
encourage them to participate. I empowered them to work along with me (and) acknowledge
their input publicly. Of course, there will have hiccups here and there as you should expect but I
am working to get the most out of them,” REO Persaud had said in an earlier interview with this
news outfit.
