Police are investigating the killing of 42-year-old Woodrow John Lepps of Victoria Village on
the East Coast Demerara.
Lepps, of no fixed place of abode, was found in an abandoned building Monday with a gaping
wound to the head. His family told police was last seen alive Sunday morning by his foster sister,
Ms. Rita Lepps, whose Belfield, ECD residence he frequents to collect his breakfast.
On Monday, she received the grisly report of his demise. His body, with the wound to the head,
was found in the abandoned building. Some of the walls also had visible blood stains.
The now-abandoned building was once on outlet for locally-manufactured GRECO amplifiers
and speakers in the 1970’s and 80’s. It was converted to a private school after the business
folded.
John, as he was popularly known in the village, did several odd jobs and errands for residents.
Police investigators have questioned several persons in the area and processed the bloody scene
for clues to the man’s murder. They were hoping to find Closed Circuit Televisions (CCTV) to
aid their probe, but there was none.
Lepps was pronounced dead at the CC Nicholson Hospital at Nabaclis, also on the East
Coast, and later transferred to Lyken Funeral Parlour awaiting a post mortem
examination (PME).
