Guyana recorded its 150 th COVID related death earlier today. A Ministry of Health release stated
that a six-day-old male infant from Region Three (Essequibo Islands- West Demerara) died.
The release from the Ministry said that the infant died while receiving care at our medical
facility. They expressed sincerest condolences to the family of the deceased and has promised to
make every effort to provide all the necessary support during this difficult time to render any
assistance needed.
The ministry in the release further stated that they have also contacted all relatives and persons to
facilitate contact tracing and rapid assistance to everyone who may have been exposed to the
now-deceased person.
Guyana have recorded over 5,300 COVID-19 cases with over 700 persons in home isolation and
over 40 in institutional quarantine.
The Ministry of Health in its continued appeal to the general public urges all to respect the
confidentiality of the deceased and his family. Further, it asked the public to allow the family to
mourn their tragic loss in peace.
