As the leadership of Region Ten continues to explore avenues for holistic development of the region,
the staff of the Linden Hospital Complex (LHC), has been entrusted into the hands of Mr. Rudy
Small.
According to sources close to the hospital, www.aroundtheregions.com learnt that Small officially
took up the post yesterday (November 2, 2020). Small replaces Ms Michelle Buller who was the
acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for some time.
Speaking to a few employees, many expressed relief that someone has been finally confirmed into
the position. “Everyone is excited and happy that we have finally secured a CEO who we hope is
competent to address our issues and challenges faced. In the past we were at a disadvantage owing
to the politics that were deliberately brought into addressing issues of grave concern. What we can
say is that the staff is prepared and willing to work with Mr. Small as we look forward to a mutually
beneficial relationship,” some employees said.
At a meeting involving the REO, Dwight John, the RHO Dr Gregory Harris, the former acting CEO
and Mr. Small, they discussed mutual issues affecting the hospital with Small giving his commitment
and determination in addressing the numerous challenges and difficulties faced both by the staff and
the public.
Many expressed the view that the move to not confirm Bullers into the position and to secure the
services of Small who according to his CV is more technically and academically equipped, had
asserted that the move was imminent.
This was in light of the fact that there were increasing challenges and difficulties faced by the nursing
and other health staff at the hospital being unresolved. Further, some weeks again several nurses at
the hospital had protested over a number of issues including risk allowances and not being in receipt
of adequate PPEs,
Several senior officials in the Region expressed congratulations and best wishes to the new CEO,
Rudy Small with many declaring that they remain confident that he will serve the region effectively.
