GUYANA COPPED SEVERAL TOP AWARDS for the 2022 Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) and the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) offered by the Caribbean Examination Council (CXC).
The Education Ministry in Georgetown said Uotam Heeralall of the Anna Regina Secondary School received the Most Outstanding Overall performer at the CSEC level. Education Minister, Priya Manickchand presented Heeralall his award.
Heeralall also received the award for the Most Outstanding student in Technical and Vocational Education. Deputy Chief Education Officer0 (Technical), Dr. Ritesh Tularam presented the coveted prize.
The ministry said too, that Atista Seenarine of Saraswati Vidya Niketan School received the Most Outstanding Overall student CAPE award given by Chief Education Officer (CEO), Mr. Saddam Hussain. Seenarine also received the Most Outstanding student in Natural Science at CAPE award. That prize Executive Director of the National Accreditation Council, Dr. Marcel Hutson, presented.
Saskia Twahir of Queen’s College (QC) received the award for Most Outstanding in Business at the CSEC level and Permanent Secretary (PS), Mr. Alfred King gave the award. Ms. Twahir also received the award as Most Outstanding in Humanities at CSEC. Chief Planning Officer, Ms. Nicola Johnson, did the honours.
QC student, Sheridan Dyal, won the Most Outstanding in Sciences at CSEC award which Deputy Chief Education Officer (Inspectorate), Mr. Sadiek Ishmael presented.
Headteacher of Anna Regina Secondary, Mr. Lalljeet Ruplall, received the award for his school being declared the Top CSEC institution of the year. He received this award from the Director of School Boards, Mr. Deonarine Hardat.
The Top CAPE School of the year was awarded to the Saraswati Vidya Niketan. The principal of the Cyril Potter College of Education, Ms. Noella Joseph presented this award to the Regional Education Officer (REdO), Mr. Akbar Chindu who received it on behalf of the school.
