Foul play suspected in death of Gouyave resident

Bernard Simon aka ‘Branch’ and ‘Nooksy’.

FOUL PLAY IS SUSPECTED in the death of well-known Mt. Granby resident Bernard Simon, also known as ‘Branch’ and ‘Nooksy’.

A woman who was assisting local fishermen with their nets on Park Beach, in Gouyave, Grenada, discovered Simon’s body about a week after he was reported missing raising much concern in his tight-knit agricultural community.

“Well, the police are working from the theory that he died as a result of foul play, so the investigation may take that route to see who or what played a role in his death,” a well-placed source told www.aroundtheregions.com.

This media house understands that police had arrested a person of interest and grilled him about Simon’s death. The progress of police investigation is still unclear, and www.aroundtheregions.com is still seeking conformation whether the suspect is still in police custody or charges have been filed against him.

This media house cannot independently confirm residents’ claims that the woman called 911 to report the discovery of Simon’s remains and was subsequently summoned the Gouyave Police Station.

According to a source on the island, eyewitnesses reported that the woman told the fishermen about seeing a lifeless body among some stones, they doubted her.

Police investigators on the scene

Now, residents from the usually quiet agricultural village are worried about their safety and are demanding answers about how Simon met his demise.

Media reports in Grenada say someone contacted a top-ranking police officer attached to the Office of the Commissioner, via WhatsApp, ostensibly with information about the man’s death.

www.aroundtheregions.com cannot independently verify this piece of information either.

Repeated checks and calls to senior police officers by this media house have proved futile.
