Fired former Regional Executive Officer (REO), Ms. Jennifer Ferreira Dougall has threatened to
institute legal action against the Chief Accountant, Selota Daniels. Daniels is the acting Principal
Assistant Secretary (PAS) of Region Three.
Ferreira Dougall made this statement in a recent exclusive interview with
www.aroundtheregions.com. She disclosed that since being relieved of her duties shortly after
the PPP/C took office, there continues to be wild and unfounded allegations being leveled
against her. She expressed the belief that the allegations are being peddled by the Chief
Accountant. She warned that should any libelous statements be made; she will institute a lawsuit.
“There is a Chief Accountant who is running her mouth all over the place and if she libels my
name, I am ready to sue her,” Dougall said.
Dougall reiterated earlier comments that she operated professionally and ethically, while
executing her duties as the REO.
“I am prepared to make myself available for any investigation as I will answer truthfully. I don’t
know the amount, but yes, I heard about it after I left,” she admitted.
The former REO maintained that she is unaware as to the amount of monies being claimed as
being overpaid to Sentinel Security. She stated that the contract that her predecessor and her
worked with, were drafted and signed by the former PS and Minister of Communities, Emile Mc
Garrel and Ronal Bulkhan respectively.
“I really can’t say that almost a 100 million was paid extra and that is truthfully. There were
some buildings, which I found out and I asked the programme heads to bring in their reports and
after looking at the education report, I asked accounts to fix it but if I was to say that it was 100
million or more I can’t say that,” Ferreira Dougall had said.
“In 2019, I became REO around the November, myself and the DREO spoke and we had asked
the programme heads to bring in their report and there was one example in the riverrain area
with a school and a health center together. What we found is that there was one guard guarding
both buildings and it shouldn’t happen and immediately I spoke with the programme heads to
get this right. That can’t happen because if we are paying for 500 guards then there must be 500
guards on the ground,” the former REO disclosed.
Ferreira Dougall reiterated that she has nothing to hide, noting that when Daniels entered the
region instead of seeking to better ascertain what was going on, she sought to garner attention by
making accusations. This, she said, was an attempt to insert herself as the PAS Finance.
“I have nothing to hide and whatever I do, I do it above board. She (Daniels) came in like
Movado and she thought that she could dictate and issue instructions to persons because she used
to be in the system before. However, she was out of the system for almost ten years as she was
dismissed under the PPPC administration. She subsequently won the case and regained her job.
What she didn’t know is that so much has changed over the past ten years,” the fired Ferreira
Dougall argued.
