Electronic timekeeping coming to LHC

Linden Hospital Complex

ELECTRONIC TIME KEEPING WILL REPLACE THE MANUAL SYSTEM at the
Linden Hospital Complex (LHC) to help stamp out rampant lawlessness among nurses if Chief
Executive Officer (CEO) Rudy Small has his way.
“Listen out for the big hue and cry because, based on the preliminary budget estimate, I am
getting an electronic timekeeping system. So, once I put that in place you no longer sign any
book, I need your fingerprints,” Small explained.
Speaking to the LHC staff through an interview with www.aroundtheregions.com Small
explained: “You will punch in when you come in. You will punch out when you go on your
lunch break. You will punch in when you return, and you and will punch out when you leave at
the end of the day. So, if you don’t do all of that we will have problems with your payment
(salaries). So, watch out as there would be a big hue and cry when I clamp down on them.”
The introduction of the electronic system is to help clamp down on egregious practices among
LHC nurses who sign in for work abandon their posts by leaving clandestinely for late night
trysts.

CEO of the Linden Hospital Complex, Rudy Small

“I intend to put a stop to this. We have some nurses who are accustomed to reporting for duty at
nights…they sign in then they get away (and) go and sleep with their sweet man…(and) would
come back in and sign out in the morning,’ the CEO disclosed explaining the nurses’ illegal
practice.
The behaviour is so rampant that there have been instances where nurses’ spouses or husbands
would end up in physical or verbal altercations with the ‘sweet man’ (secret lover) after turning
up to find that the nurses are ‘not at work’ but is found at the rival’s residence.
Apart from introducing electronic timekeeping, Small said stricter disciplinary measures will be
implemented to curb the behaviour which the Sisters have patronised. The LHC will not be
mired in controversies created by unprofessional staff, Small insisted.
“This is the level of lawlessness that is going on. If you are friends with the Sister then you
could get away (with it). But I will put a stop to this,” the outraged Small said.
