The Guyana Police Force at its Region Ten office are investigating the death of a man of East
Indian descent who was found dead. The dead man according to the police was a vagrant of no
fixed abode and was known by many as ‘Ziek’.
The police state that investigations thus far have revealed that the deceased was seen mostly
around the Kara Kara, Mackenzie, Linden area. He was reportedly employed by residents within
the community as a handy man and was observed being in the community for about one year
now.
A Arakabra Drive, Kara Kara resident told investigators that the dead man had visited her home
on Christmas Eve day to execute handywork, however he left after complaining of feeling
unwell.
The woman further stated that from December 31, 2020 to January 1, 2021 a stench was
emanating from the area, however residents suggested that it may have been coming as a result
of a dead animal
www.aroundtheregions.com learnt that as the stench grew stronger on Wednesday, the residents
sought to find where the scent was coming from. Their search quickly unearthed the discovery of
the decomposed body.
The man was found lying in a flat, wooden, dilapidated and abandoned building on the corner of
the street.
The police responded to the scene and found the body clad only in a black jersey.
The area where the dead man was found was searched but no evidence was found. The dead man
was taken to the Linden Hospital Complex (LHC).
As the body lies at the Wismar Hospital Mortuary it is awaiting proper identification and a Post
Mortem Examination.
The police confirmed that they are continuing their investigation into the discovery.
