CXC releases Paper 2 for exams – CEO, Dr. Marcel Hutson

Chief Education Officer (CEO) Dr. Marcel Hutson

Chief Education Officer (CEO) Dr. Marcel Hutson said the Caribbean Examination Council
(CXC) has released the broad topics for the Paper 2 examinations offered at this year’s
Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) tests.
The Paper 2 exams include that for Additional Mathematics and Agriculture Science – Single
and Double Awards.
Hutson made this disclosure via a video conference on the Ministry of Education’s Facebook
page recently. Hutson said the topics for the Paper 2 exams will be disseminated shortly.
“We had said Monday but we can very well have the topics over the weekend. Once those topics
would have been released, we are going to disseminate those topics through various mediums to
ensure that the topics get to our students to ensure that they can embark on their studies,” the
CEO said.
Historically, Guyanese students have been performing exceptionally at the CSEC tests, and
Hutson predicts local candidates will maintain this trend in 2021.
“We have several methods that we will be using: The Learning Channel; our Facebook page;
(and) media houses to get the topics out to our students. This is important,” the top education
official explained in the televised broadcast.
“Once this is done…we will be (producing) videos (with) questions and answers in relation to
each topic because we want to ensure that we give our children a very good advantage…at the
examinations,” the CEO stressed.
“Over the years we have done well and we want to keep that rich tradition…in these
examinations,” CEO Dr. Hutson reiterated.
