Apostle Valerie Adams-Yearwood re-launched GOD’S FINE WOMEN
INTERNATIONAL (GFWI) organisation following a 12-year dormancy by the
Linden-based non-governmental organisation (NGO).
Adams-Yearwood, a former minister of government, said the rebranded grouping
has a broader vision and now operating under the theme, ‘Empowering Women,
Inspiring Change thru’ Godly Principles’.
The now-retired politician in an exclusive with www.aroundtheeregions.com said
GWFI’s ambition is to develop rounded females through a variety of focused
programmes: Building the “YOU” – Self Esteem & Self –Image; Women’s
Economic Empowerment – Business & Agriculture; Women’s Wellness – (include
addiction); Women’s Education & Training; Women’s Family Welfare & Security;
Women’s Spirituality; Women & the Law; and Women & Housing.
At its rebirth a week ago at LICHAS ( Linden Concert Hall and School) attended
by many female residents and women outside of the bauxite-mining municipality,
Adams-Yearwood disclosed that 22 women received certificate of membership
while eight received ‘Beauty packages’ to the tune of $10,000.00 per person.
The gifts were made available, compliments of Mr. Mortimer Mingo; Mr.
Shanghai Major; Cozab’s Hardware Store; 104.3 Power FM Radio; Roserick Block
Making Company; Star Party Rentals; former legislator, Mr. Audwin Rutherford,
and Esmonde Klass, aka Gamo.

One of the many gifts they were presented

When GFWI was first birthed in 2003 under US-based Bishop Floyd Jarvis, 25
women constituted its backbone. Then the focus was solely on advancing their
spirituality to help contribute to that component of nation building.
“We continued to grow from strength to strength as the organisation was growing
rapidly and the impact was being felt in many communities, which saw many
women benefiting significantly,” Adams-Yearwood recalled.
She reminisced that before it became defunct, GFWI hosted several conferences
for women & couples and annual camps where they benefited from spiritual
impartations. Apostle Valerie Yearwood remembered GFWI as the organisation of
choice for couples and women needing support, advice and spiritual interventions
for personal advancement.
‘The younger women were being mentored through a mother/daughter program
called the ‘Ruth and Naomi Chapter’. Some of them are now members of the new
GFWI. The women of this organisation can testify of their personal growth as a
result of their involvement in this organisation,” the Apostle stressed.
Memory of GFWI potential and Divine instruction motivated Adams-Yearwood to
awaken the NGO from its slumber and design a blueprint to network with the
country’s Central and Local Government systems, NGOs and international
organisations.
This time they also plan to create opportunities to accelerate female development
through spiritual, social, educational & economic empowerment undergirded by
Godly principles and a healthy lifestyle.
Objectives of GFWI include:

 acquiring their own headquarters to help create a safe and comfortable space
for confidential interactions
 dedicating one Thursday per month for spiritual development through
reading of the Bible, praying & fasting,
 preparing presentations for seminars, workshops, conferences etc. on biblical
& social issues,
 conducting outreach programmes for communities and groups regardless of
the social or economic status
 organising exchange visits with other groups & organisations
 planning and executing rallies, retreats and camps
 guiding training programmes to meet the educational needs of members and
communities
 providing sponsorship for members/ other women on a needs-basis,
 ensuring there is counselling in mental health, domestic violence, suicide
and childcare,
 planning and execute fund raising activities
 assisting women with start-ups and expansion of their business enterprises.
“Several persons in and out of Linden will be engaged as resource persons to aid in
the overall development of our women and let me state that even though this
organisation is (led by) Christian women, the programmes will cater for all women
regardless of their religion, status or age,” Adams-Yearwood emphasised.
