ORRIN GORDON AND HIS BOARD ATE SOUR GRAPES during their tenure and now the
teeth of exhausted Linden Enterprise Network (LEN) staff of are on edge.
“Had they made competent decisions regarding the performance of the CEO (Tannizia Gasper)
then we would have been in a better position, but politics and her APNU (A Partnership for
National Unity) affiliation dictated their decision. If they had seen the discrepancies beforehand
and would have heeded when persons were complaining bitterly, they would have been able to
correct that situation a very long time ago. Then, we would not be here,” some employees
complained bitterly in a recent interview with www.aroundtheregions.com
Gordon’s and his Board were characterised by indecisions, outraged LEN workers, who now
seem destined to pay the price for their irresolution, told this media house.
“They should take full responsibility for what we are caught up in. We are burdened with a CEO
who is ineffective, inhumane and very spiteful to employees who question her actions. This
cannot work,” an employee declared.
Since the Peoples Progressive Party (PPP) government swept the APNU from power last year,
they removed all except one Board member and have not appointed fresh Directors. Anguished
LEN employees believe they know why.
“They have found someone who is prepared to do the things that they want. Gasper is willing to
use us as sacrificial lambs. It’s evident that the plan is to get rid of some of us to bring in new
faces.”
“We are fighting battles The first is that the APNUAFC (the previous coalition government) kept
her because she was politically correct and we suffered. Even though many of us had complained
bitterly then, and now, with a changed administration, this government is using her to get rid of
us,” an employee explained.
“We are being treated so terribly that going to work is like being dragged to prison,” a staff
member said painfully.
The staff continued, “this is very horrible for staff because you have somebody who doesn’t care
about your well-being then you have a government that doesn’t care at all. We are still waiting
on our gratuity and leave passages that can’t be paid” until now.
www.aroundtheregions.com was reliably informed that in a meeting held Thursday, staff were
informed that LEN, through the Ministry of Finance, is yet again unable to pay gratuity that is
due for June.
“We were told that the Ministry of Finance has not approved it claiming that there isn’t enough
money, and a decision still has not been made on the future of LEN and its operation here,” CEO
Gasper reportedly said at that meeting.
“The sad situation that we have now is that several persons taking their vacation now cannot get
their leave passage because of our exceptionally poor financial situation. Further, some persons
didn’t get their gratuity in December, and once again are unable to get it now because everyday
things are getting worse,” they explained.
The previous Board of Directors is culpable; however, workers contend that the Irfaan Ally
administration has been exploiting their difficulties.
“Since this government has taken over it has been a downward spiral. It gets from bad to
worst. We are tired. We have been fighting, but with a CEO like this (and) backed by such
an administration, we have lost hope in anyone coming with a boat to save us,” the
aggrieved staff complained.
