An article entitled, “Public wants an investigation of NICIL Official” published by this media house, www.aroundtheregions.com has seen several employees coming forward. Several employees at National Industrial and Commercial Investments Limited (NICIL) have confirmed that a recent demand by members of the public for a thorough investigation of the officials has been one that has been ongoing for several years.
The employees disclosed that the named official has been embroiled in the allegations for some eight to ten years and not five years as was previously reported by this media house. “We have been receiving information and allegations regarding him for about eight to ten years and like members of the public, we too want some form of investigation as the stain and perception that has been created because of this man’s reported actions has implications for us (employees),” they said.
A senior source said that the issues regarding the man has been there for several years dating back to his earlier days at NICIL. “This man has been working there for more than 12 years and you can have an idea as to how long he has been accused of this,” the source said.
He noted that in the interest of removing the suspicion that hangs over the company that management should ensure that the employee provides answers to put the issue/s to rest. “The situation with him (NICIL officer) has been going on for at least ten years and it seems as though no one has the power to put a stop to it. We hope that this CEO gets down to finding out from present and past employees what has been taking place over the years,” a senior employee added.
One of the employees who spoke to this media house stressed that there are persons who have damning information that if the current management at NICIL is serious about, they can act on. “This is not an overnight thing; this is something that has been going on for years and maybe three out of every five persons who have a land transaction with NICIL knows this man. He has become so powerful that he boasts about his relationships with several prominent politicians. We want everything to be revealed,” the employee noted.
Several employees pointed out that with the current administration reviewing several agencies and departments that the conduct of this official should be a top priority, noting that there are numerous persons who have complained and are still complaining about how they have been treated and or how their transactions have been handled by this individual. “What worries us is that this man has committed several infractions according to company policy and nothing seems to be coming out of it, but there are others who in our view have treaded the narrow and straight path and unfortunately have suffered unfairly,” an employee opined.
The employee said that some of the persons who have made allegations against the employee live in the UK and the USA. “Not only persons from Guyana have been reporting this man, but there are also persons who live in the UK and USA who have been complaining about how he has handled and continues to handle their transactions,” the employee declared.
