Guyana and Ghana agree to enhance collaboration

Dr. Irfaan Ali and H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of Ghana

GUYANA AND GHANA HAVE AGREED ON A MENU OF MEASURES for cooperation
between the two independent countries. The package will include joint work on oil and gas,
climate change and the environment, capacity building, and training.
Presidents Irfaan Ali of Guyana and his Ghanian counterpart Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo
met on the margins of the ongoing 76th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New
York.
The Guyanese delegation will be led by Vice President, Dr Bharrat Jagdeo, to the West African
nation scheduled for the first week of October. The Guyanese and Ghanian leaders agreed that
Tuesday’s meeting would enhance greater collaboration in addressing matters of common
interests at the global level.
With the Guyanese leader at te UNGA are Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation
minister, Hugh Todd; UN Ambassador and Permanent Representative, Ms. Carolyn Rodrigues-
Birkett, and Foreign Secretary, Mr. Robert Persaud.
While in New York president Ali and his team are expected to meet with several other world
leaders and high-ranking members of international organisations.
