Rising welterweight prospect, Carlston Harris, scored another first-round
stoppage at UFC Vegas 37 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, ending Impa
Kasanganay with a vicious TKO stoppage.
According to fight reports, Kasanganay came out confident as he tried to close
the gap and land some punches inside. However, Harris was game to exchange
and seemed to have a little more pop on his shots.
Out of nowhere, Harris caught Kasanganay with a counter combination that
wobbled him. Harris followed up with a flurry of punches and some vicious
ground-and-pound to score the stoppage.
Harris, Guyana’s first UFC fighter, has now won his last five fights all by way of
knockout or submission.
The 34-year-old now has 17 MMA wins and four losses. He was fighting for just
the second time in the UFC after picking up a first-round Anaconda Choke
Submission victory over American Christian Aguilera.
Kasanganay, 27, has an MMA record of 9-2, and two wins and two defeats from
four UFC contests.
