Five additional doctors for Region Two this weekend

Public Service minister, Sonia Parag

POMEROON/SUPENAAM (REGION TWO) WILL GET FIVE NEW DOCTORS by
tomorrow to help boost healthcare delivery there, Public Service Minister, Sonia Parag told
residents during the recent two-day Cabinet outreach in the heavily-agricultural area.
Parag also told region two residents the government plans building a $2B multi-speciality
hospital offering numerous benefits for the Pomeroon/Supenaam healthcare sub-sector. The
modern facility will also help improve services to small and satellite communities in the Region.
She said the EXIM Bank-funded project will create opportunities for specialised training of
nurses, Medex and midwives, among other healthcare specialists. Parag said the current decision
to boost the capacity of medical staff with five additional physicians would also ensure universal
healthcare service is available to residents at this time.
“President Ali turn the sod for the construction of a $2B multispecialty hospital and that means
that your medical care will improve, you will now have an intensive care unit in Essequibo- 24
hours services and as the Minister of Public Service, I will commit to providing this county with
doctors at every health centre and hospital,” she said.
Special attention would be placed on the Pomeroon/Supenaam healthcare sector,
particularly the staff capacity. This, will help ensure that citizens are properly cared for
when visiting any health facility in Region Two, Parag said.
