Rodrigues assured residents the government will maintain the facility and ensure 24/7 supply of
drinkable water. GWI’s Hinterland Engineer, Khemraj Persaud said the system helps fulfil
Sustainable Development Goal # 6 of the UN’s 17 goals they hope are achieved globally by
2030.
Persaud said three Community Service Officers (CSOs) were trained to help monitor and
regulate the water system, and a operations official from Moraicobai will be identified for overall
supervision of the new service.
Meanwhile, Moraikobai Toshao Mr. Derrick John thanked GWI and the Government of Guyana
