Town Clerk (ag) Ms. Candace Nelson disputes Georgetown Mayor, Mr. Ubraj Narine’s claims
that security has been withdrawn from his Pigeon Island, East Coast Demerara, residence.

Beyond the boundaries of the city, no action has been taken by the city’s administration to
withdraw ranks from the Constabulary that are based at the Mayor’s home.
She said at the time of Mayor Narine’s allegations, Constable Welch, of the City Constabulary
Department, was present at his home providing security services.
Nelson said anyone is free to check with the Office of the Town Clerk to ascertain the veracity of
any statement, written or oral, made in the name of the City Council. Town Clerk (ag.) of the
City of Georgetown.
Mayor Narine is currently with a local group in the United States of America for public
meetings coordinated by the US-based group, the Guyanese Organisations
