LHC launches probe into former COVID patients’ complaints

The Region Ten COVID Hospital

THE LINDEN HOSPITAL COMPLEX (LHC) HAS LAUNCHED AN INVESTIGATION
into patients’ complaints of insanitary conditions at the COVID facility.
The LHC Public Relations Officer (PRO) reportedly made the disclosure to former patients the
institution suspected were behind leaks about the unhealthy state of the place.
Details were still sketchy at the time www.aroundtheregions.com was writing this story.
Meanwhile, two former patients at the Region Ten COVID hospital in Wismar are suspicious
about the Linden Hospital Complex (LHC) Public Relations (PR) Department requests to
publicise their grievances about the institution on public television.
One claimed receiving a telephone call from a female identifying herself as the PRO who
apologised for the hardships she encountered while a patient at the Upper Demerara/Berbice
(Region Ten) COVID institution.
Some of them authenticated other patients’ reports, while others provided more horrifying
details.
“I told her (PRO) everything because some people believed that when we spoke about how the
place was dirty, messy and not an environment for any sick person, they felt we were crazy or
making up stories,” the woman said.
She is fearful if the situation got worse, there would be adverse reactions to her.
“You supposed to feel comfortable, you're supposed to feel loved and cared for, not afraid and
scornful of your environment and that is who I felt.,” the woman said.
She was stunned when the PRO invited her to detail her experiences on public television.

“I found it not only strange but as though she was setting me up to be seen negatively by several
of the nurses who I think did an impressive job despite their challenges. She wanted me to go on
television as she said that she will make arrangements for me to share my experience and I
bluntly refused,” the woman said.
Other former patients contacted by www.aroundtheregions.com rebuffed the LHC’s request also
fearing a backlash
One of them said: “Some people feel that it was me who had been going around talking about my
experience. But what I suffered there is too much for me to relate to everyone. All I am seeking
to do is to ensure that I adhere to all COVID related guidelines as I didn’t want to have a repeat
visit to that hospital. Honestly, I think that residents should avoid going there considering the
state that it is in,” the former patient said.
Meanwhile, when contacted, the PRO confirmed that she had indeed contacted some
women, but strongly denied requesting they make television appearances.
