RDC closes bid applications on Wednesday May 19

BIDS CLOSE WEDNESDAY for capital and current projects scheduled for this financial year
in Upper Demerara/Berbice (Region Ten) according to a Regional Democratic Council (RDC)
document.
The RDC is expected to spend some $70.5M for the advertised projects according to
www.aroundtheregions.com calculations.
The RDC wants vehicles for land and water transport for its Administration, Public Works and
Health departments.
Under its infrastructure programme, the RDC plans to upgrade the drainage systems and
associated structures of Central Mackenzie. It will also undertake construction of a living
quarters for teachers at Muritaro the document showed. It also indicated plans to expand and
repaint the agriculture main office in the Region and constructing a concrete drain and back fill
the agriculture compound.
Also, under the infrastructure programme, will be maintenance of bridges at Kara Kara; upkeep
to the Sub office at Kwakwani and the staff quarters at Retrieve.
Under its recurrent programme there will be maintenance of Sea and River defenses; upkeep of
Staff Quarter at Blueberry Hill; repair to Staff Quarter at Retrieve; refurbishment of the Vice
Chairman’s living quarter and repairs to the Staff Quarters at Christianburg.
The RDC’s bid invitation advised that bidding will be conducted through the National
Competitive Bidding (NCB) procedure as specified in the Procurement Act of 2003 and
Regulations. It said bidders must follow instructions and provide all information demanded in the
Tender Documents. Furthermore, bidders are reminded they must submit valid Guyana Revenue
Authority (GRA) and National Insurance Scheme (NIS) Compliance Certificates with their bid
documents.

Bidders are further reminded that tenders in the name of a company must be submitted with the
NIS compliance reflecting the name of the firm.
Applicants are further reminded that tenders for each project/supply, must be placed in separate
plain envelopes along with all supporting documents. No photographs or other documents
disclosing the identity of bidders must accompany the tender.
All bid documents must be addressed to the Chairman, Regional Procurement and Tender
Administrative Board, Region #10. It must be clearly marked at the top left-hand corner, “name
of the project/type of supply”.
