IF ONE WERE TO JUDGE FROM THE NOVEL INITIATIVES implemented so far at the
Linden Hospital Complex (LHC) by its CEO Rudy Small, then it’s easy for one to conclude that
he is genuinely serious and determined in achieving his ambition of making the facility “the best
in Guyana”.
Some weeks ago, the CEO highlighted a number of new initiatives he planned to roll out this
year to improve standards at the hospital and among them, securing a new generator to power the
administrative building to counter challenges faced whenever there is power outage which has
become normal in the last two decades.
“I am pleased to announce that on Friday a brand-new generator was installed,” Small said,
noting that “whenever there is a black out the admin section of the hospital has been
suffering…for the last 15 to 20 years.”
“I am happy to say that I have excess capacity to power the X-ray department, because, since the
hospital opened, it couldn’t function whenever there was a black out,” Small said.
The CEO also outlined new initiatives to help enhance the quality of their customer service
provided by nurses and other categories of staff.
“I have appointed two quality assurance officers and their job is to interact with patients and to
see whatever problem they are having, to intercede on their behalf and ensure that they get
quality care,” Small reiterated.
He said under the new initiatives waiting time at the Emergency Room (ER) and Outpatient
department will be slashed “because I don’t want patients coming there and spending hours
needlessly.”
Upper Demerara/Berbice (Region Ten) patients will get “efficient and high-quality care,”
CEO Small promised.
