STAFF OF the Linden Utility Services Coop Society Limited (LUSCSL) are outraged at the
removal of Finance Manager Ms. Jewel Belgrave-Joseph from her position.
Belgrave-Joseph has been with the coop society since 1993 when she started as a meter reader
and qualified herself earning promotions up to her last substantive position.
“We heard that she was summoned to an urgent meeting due to some administrative irregularities
in a 2019 report by the Chief Cooperative Development Officer (CCDO) Ms. (Perlina) Gifth and
because of that they will move her,” a staff member told www.aroundtheregions.com
A knowledgeable source said the executives of the LUSCSL refused a meeting with faithful
veteran of 28 years with the coop who wanted to air her grievances.
She sat in the boardroom all day waiting on the Secretary, Mr. George Joaquin until he finally
showed up and she enquired the reasons for her demotion.
“As I understand it, she was told her reassignment was not a demotion although under her new
portfolio she was required to do work she formerly assigned to an accountant under her,” the
informant said.
www.aroundtheregions.com understands that the Internal Audit Manager has assumed the
portfolio of General Manager, while Mrs. Victorine Walton-Handy, wife of Board Member, Mr.
Courtney Handy, is now the Purchaser and Ms. Nordis Seales the new Accountant. Ms. Tessa
Ragbeer, spouse of Board Member, Mr. Charles Sampson, is the General Manager (ag) “which is
a huge jump from internal auditor,” a LUSCSL employee observed.
This media house understands that Belgrave-Joseph might be a victim of a well-orchestrated
conspiracy to silence her for her unwillingness to be part of fraudulent activities at the Linden
Coop.
“She did her best, worked very hard over the past 28 years and should not leave the matter
as that. It is not right to victimise any employee willy nilly,” the LUSCSL source said.
Attempts by www.aroundtheregions.com to solicit a comment from Jewel Belgrave -Joseph
on her removal as Finance Manager proved futile however several sources confirmed her
removal.
