LHC rewards mothers who delivered on New Year’s Day

The Linden Hospital Complex (LHC) rewarded six mothers who delivered on New Year’s Day
keeping faith with its tradition despite challenges by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The six mothers honoured were Camila Mansfield, Luann Peters, Shirley Charkes, Glenn Thoas,
Renola Campbell and Tracyann Archer. The CEO stated that there was no birth this year from
Ituni.
Mr. Rudy Small, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of LHC in a simple ceremony handed over
individual hampers to the mothers in the boardroom of the healthcare facility.
“Because of COVID 19 a number of things were done differently this year. As a matter of fact, it
has been a longstanding tradition that Republic Bank has been doing over the years and this year
they opted not to bring the hamper to the hospital for the first-born baby but rather to have the
mother, Tenesha Duncan, go and uplift the hamper,” Small explained.
Small recently took over the CEO’s position and was elated by the first set of births under his
watch and voluntarily became their surrogate father.

“This is my first New Years’ babies as the CEO of this hospital and with the birth of these babies
I am their Godfather. As their God father I w`ant to extend an invitation to their mothers to visit
me should they need any medical assistance. I have an open-door policy. Additionally, I
have impressed on the mothers to return and ensure that their babies secure their vaccination,”
the beaming CEO and surrogate father told the mothers.
He even had counsel for the mothers: “Ensure that they remain safe and secured in a good and
healthy environment. This will benefit not only them but the wider society as they would be able
to become productive and healthy citizens in their adulthood. We need more productive citizens
that can and will contribute meaningfully to wholistic development.”

The LHC executive lauded the continued corporate sponsorship of the annual event by
conscientious Region Ten firms. This year, Modern Security Services; Chetram and Sons
Lumber Yard; People’s Choice Pharmacy; Double Team Taxi Service, and Travis Clarke backed
the yearly scheme.
“I am personally grateful and very thankful for the willingness of these businesses to contribute
to such an initiative as they continue to demonstrate that they will give back to their community
and I believe that all residents of this region should be very proud of the efforts of these
businesses in rewarding these mothers,” he said.
Small disclosed there was a solitary New Year’s Day birth at the LHC, an historic first for the
hospital in the capital of the mineral-rich bauxite community. Consequently, they were forced to
extend the ceremony to January 4 th since they had more hampers than babies.
