Small unveils massive plans for LHC

Mr. RUDY SMALL, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Linden Hospital Complex (LHC),
unveiled massive infrastructural and other plans for 2021 and looks set to succeed given the
ringing endorsement from employees moved by his “passion, commitment and determination”.
Mr. Small “is doing an exceptional job and we are in a much better position than we were with
the previous acting CEO,” a LHC nurse said.
Another offered: “Mr. Small is making huge changes. He is progressing! he is getting things
done and we are very grateful for this because it shows that he is taking control of improving
healthcare for us all here.”
Small was placed at the helm of the Upper Demerara -Berbice (Region Ten) health institution in
Linden, nestled in mineral rich community.
The CEO spoke of his determination and commitment to see significant and positive changes to
the hospital to ensure it’s one of the best in Guyana.
Among the raft of changes envisaged by CEO Small are upgrades to two operating rooms;
improvements to the hospital’s air condition (AC) systems and the AC Air handler unit. In
addition, they will pursue rehabilitation of the LHC boiler system and repairs to the hospital
building.

He disclosed that there will be improvements to the capacity of the emergency generator and
repairs and repositioning of the split AC condenser units will be done while they will put the
second elevator into service.
The CEO’s Secretariat in a newsletter said in the LHC 2021 estimates shows budgeting for other
major rehab of the LHC campus to help curb flooding. It also contains sums for upgrading the
electricity system; replacing and improving the guttering system and enhancing the maintenance
of the Split Unit AS system.

The CEO told www.aroundtheregions.com that the team will also be working to help decrease,
then completely eliminate, shortage of medical supplies and pharmaceuticals at the LHC and
procure a digital x-ray machine. He said the LHC plans too to procure CT scan and
echocardiogram machines and external defibrillators.
Under the 2021 improvement plan there will be betterment to the COVID-19-related lab
equipment and repairs to sections of the age-old structure which forms part of the institutions
complex. This, Small said, will improve and expand accommodation for the LHC administrative
staff. He also unveiled a beautification plan for the campus, adding that they will also undertake
patient-navigator and patient-advocate programmes.
The CEO said they will also provide better directional signs throughout the complex to aid
movement of visitors and patients.

throughout all Region 10 communities that we serve. I am totally confident that as a team,
we will rise to the challenges and deliver safe, professional and effective care,” CEO Small
said.
