Health Minister lauds commitment of COVID-19 Task Forces

Health Minister Dr Frank Anthony recently lauded the commitment of the nation’s COVID-19
Task Forces which are working, some 7-days a week to help keep the nation safe from the deadly
pandemic.
“We at the central Ministry we meet almost every day (including) Saturday and Sunday where
we review the cases, we had over the past 24 hours and devise plans when we notice a spike. We
also review and flag a number of things and provide solutions to alleviate whatever issues come
up,” Dr Anthony said.
In an exclusive with www.aroundtheregions.com recently, Anthony expressed satisfaction about
the effort of the Task Forces which work collectively at head Office and the Regions.
“By and large they are all trying and it's really how these Task Forces are made up it really is a
mixture of people. So, if you have persons involved from the regional administration, you have
the health people in the region, you also have persons from the private sector so the combination
of these persons would provide the guidance to how we do region related activities,” Minister
Anthony explained.
He noted that at the Ministry of Health, the National Task Force meets every day while in the
region they do not meet this regularly.
“The constant meeting of the National Task Force he said has resulted in the government being
able to better address COVID than it was before,” the Minister said.
“So we have taken a very proactive approach and I think that has worked for us so we don’t have
to wait until somebody filters that up. That takes a long time. Within a 24 hour cycle we know
where new cases are. We do the contact tracing and so forth, so from a health perspective we are
very proactive. It involves from top right down to the bottom and it involves these Regional Task
Forces,” Dr Anthony said.
