Four fined for assaulting world javelin champion and his sibling

The four men that were fined for the assault on Anderson Peters and his brother

GRENADA’S CHIEF MAGISTRATE TEDDY ST. LOUIE FINED FOUR PORT-OF-SPAIN NATIONALS EC$ 5,500 each for recently assaulting double world javelin champion, Grenadian Anderson Peters, aboard the ‘Harbour Master’

The four men: John Alexander, Mikhail John, Noel Cooper and Sheon Jack were each fined EC$3,500 for grievous harm to the global champion, and EC$ 2,000 on a separate charge of causing harm to his sibling Kiddon Peters when they appeared in the St. Georges Magistrate Court before St Louie.

Chief Magistrate St Louie in handing down his decision, warned the quartet they will face a one-year jail sentence if they fail to pay the financial penalty forthwith.

Alexander, John, Cooper and Jack were among six persons police arrested following a physical altercation aboard the ‘Harbour Master’, a popular ‘party ship’ out of the twin-island republic of Trinidad and Tobago, the land of the Humming bird, Calypso, Soca, steelpan and carnival,

However, police later dropped charges against Lance Wiggins, 45, Sailor of Cocorite and Deckhand of Arima.

The world javelin champion commented publicly for the time on the fistic altercation he endured from the group and wants it used for positive benefits.

“To everyone who lent a hand and even risked their own safety on the night of the incident, thank you for all that you did. I especially thank my parents and family, my coach, my bank family, my club sand my sports family for the outpouring of support. Thank you for praying, sending well wishes and for reaching out in many ways to provide support,” the star athlete stressed in his statement.
