‘Dependable’ Khemraj donates to two hospitals.

The New Amsterdam and Suddie Hospitals recently benefitted from major donations popular
city businessman, Satyendra Khemraj, Managing Director of The Doctor’s Clinic, in
Campbellville.
Khemraj learned of the needs of the two healthcare institutions during his annual Christmas
giveaways, and added them to his list of beneficiaries.
“During the Christmas season I was informed that New Amsterdam Hospital needed some things
such as a refrigerator, washing machine, pressing irons among other things and I committed to
seeing what I can do in addressing these needs,” he said in an invited comment.
“However, while visiting Suddie hospital I was made aware of similar needs and decided that for
the new year (2022) these institutions cannot (continue) at a disadvantage.”
He is convinced that private sector firms should help relieve some of the ongoing challenges
facing publicly-owned institutions.

“Frankly, while some believe that the government should take care of these needs, I differ on that
view as it is my opinion that this is where the private sector can chip in as not everything will be
able to be provided by the government so I opted to play my part,” Khemraj emphasised.
Then he backed his beliefs by donating refrigerators, washing machines, microwaves and
pressing irons with food supplies to the two hospitals.
“These health institutions have needs and if various businesses can commit to helping in some
way or the other then the government doesn’t have to do everything as its very important that we
have a public/private partnership and I will continue playing my part,” he promised.
Khemraj foresees ramping up his charitable activities in the healthcare sector this year despite his
own challenges thrown up by the ongoing global pandemic
“As an entrepreneur, over the years I am aware that there are various seasons one goes through in
the business cycle. While the Covid pandemic has affected many businesses, that is no excuse
for me not to continue giving. The reality is that you may not be able to give like you used to, but

I believe that regardless of how small your profit is that there is something that you can give
back to enhancing and improving the lives of others.”
Hinterland communities and their healthcare systems are on his radar this year too.
“They (staff) were really happy to be receiving these things and their response has further
boosted my desire and willingness to help,’ he said.
An official at the New Amsterdam hospital expressed gratitude to Khemraj and his company,
admitting they are excited that he continues to respond readily to helping their institution.
“This is a businessman who readily agrees to assist and you can always count on him to lend
some support. So, we at the New Amsterdam Hospital are truly thankful and grateful for his
assistance,” the official said.
