NICIL/SPU Accountant tenders’ resignation

Abdool Azis

The accountant based at SPU has resigned from the agency, which forms part of NICIL. The
accountant, Abdool Azis tender his resignation sometime last week and it is believed to be as a
result of several differences that he has been encountering with the new acting CEO, Radha
Krishna Sharma.
www.aroundtheregions.com sought a response from Azis regarding his resignation. Sources
close to Azis confirmed the resignation.
Sources close to the agency have revealed that more resignations are expected in the coming
weeks. There seems to be increased uncertainty as several persons have been transferred and
others have been dismissed by the new board, which was entrusted to run the affairs of the
company.
It was disclosed that the SPU accountant is resigning over what he would have said is the
enormous challenges with NICIL/SPU and his continued academic pursuit. This, it was noted
would have taken effect on him, thus his decision to part with the company.
Speaking to several employees on the condition of anonymity, they noted that while Azis wasn’t
a popular figure within the company, owing to his actions and questionable decisions, many are
surprised by his decision to resign abruptly from the company in this manner. Some noted that
despite being a very talented young man, the accountant had sought to bring politics to
NICIL/SPU after joining the company in 2017, a little over three years ago. “He (Abdool) wasn’t
very popular, but the point is that I am convinced that whatever was going on may have forced
him to resign. I don’t know the entire story, but what I can is that he and the new CEO has a very
stormy relationship,” an inside source said.
The source noted that while the new CEO has
been very professional to the staff, they are of the view that the affairs of the company is being
run primarily by the Board of Directors, thus limiting the powers of the CEO.
“The CEO is very professional to the staff and many of us have shared this view before, but what
we firmly believe is that a lot of decisions and actions are as a result of the Board of Directors
him,” some AHI sources disclosed.
Another disclosed that the accountant was in the habit of not executing his responsibilities in the
highest professional manner and it may have resulted in the acting CEO increasing pressure, thus
resulting in him resigning. “He always bluffing somebody and from what I am seeing the CEO
wasn’t prepared to take his bluffs as this is what Abdool has been doing for a while. Now that he
ran out of whatever bluffs, maybe he decided that its best he resigned,” another source opined.
Abdool tenure comes to an end on November 6, 2020.
